Elegant! Graceful! Powerful! These are just a few of the comments that Bill Mack's startlingly complex three dimensional relief sculptures elicit from viewers. Indeed one cannot ignore the commanding attention that these fine art sculptures demand.
Born and raised in Minnesota, Bill developed an interest in art at a very young age. At 17, while working as a draftsman, Bill submitted a design for a bronze portrait to a company making dedication tablets. A crucial moment occurred which would change his life forever when his design was accepted. Bill immediately quit his job as a draftsman and launched his very successful career as a commissioned relief sculptor. Bill continued his education at the University of Minnesota where he majored in journalism and minored in art history, while continuing to do commissioned work on the side.
Working in different materials and trying new methods, Bill was able to create powerful and dynamic three dimensional relief sculptures in bonded bronze and bonded sand. This intricate process allows Bill to capture even subtle details and shadowing effects in his images.
So impressive are Bill's sculptures that they are housed in such important collections as the Basketball Hall of Fame, the collections of Liz Taylor, Sylvester Stallone, Kenny Rogers, Tony Curtis, President Clinton and former presidents Carter, Ford and Reagan. Bill's contemporary sculptures have achieved world wide recognition.
The Plaza Galleries is proud to present the fine art of Bill Mack.
