Cassie Dickinson

Cassie Dickinson is a Whistler-based oil painter, whose work is deeply rooted in the landscapes of the Coast Mountains and the quiet moments of wonder found in the natural world. Originally from Ontario, her connection to painting evolved profoundly after moving to British Columbia. Captivated by the mountains, forests, and shifting alpine light awakened a new sense of purpose within her work.

Drawn to the Sea to Sky by its wild beauty and sense of adventure, Cass creates paintings inspired by the places she experiences firsthand. Time spent hiking alpine trails, skiing, sitting beside rivers, and encountering wildlife all shape the work she creates. Her paintings often capture fleeting moments that can so easily pass unnoticed: the glow of evening light across mountain peaks, the softness of morning fog weaving through trees.

Working primarily in oils, Cass combines realism with expressive brushwork and layered colour to create paintings that feel immersive, emotional, and deeply personal. For her, painting is a way of holding onto moments that cannot truly be held. She is endlessly inspired by the feeling nature gives us here in the mountains: a sense of awe that comes from standing beneath something so much bigger than ourselves. Through her work, she hopes to share not only the beauty of the landscape itself, but the feeling of being completely present within it.

Since settling in Whistler in 2022, Cass has devoted herself to painting the landscapes and wildlife of the region that captured her heart. Her connection to the local arts community has continued to grow through teaching and sharing creative experiences with others, something that has further deepened her appreciation for the way art can bring people together and encourage us to slow down and truly look around.

Through each painting, Cassie invites viewers to pause for a moment and reconnect with the natural world. Her work is a reflection of her belief that beauty is constantly surrounding us, if only we take the time to notice it.
